it depends on what you plan on doing with the car, if it chopped in half and to be used for parts only it's not a problem. but if you plan on driving the car it will cost more than the car is worth, if you wanted to import a 96 or newer it would have to have obd2 and if a jap version doesn't then you need to plan on about 20,000 to get it raod legal if it is before 96 then it will cost you about 8,000 to get it on the road. I researched all of this when I was going to import a ford escort cosworth. Those are the figures I was quoted by an RI (registered importer) in texas.
